The community was introduced to our new captain, Captain Manny Chavez. He gave recommendations to attendants on how to act and observe if experiencing a raid and instructed to call 911 to assist in determining if a raid is legitimately conducted by federal agents as well as advice on what to do as a bystander.

7/25: HUNC members accepted the invitation of Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council to share in outreach at its sponsored Pool Party at 1122 Cole, an LA City Recreation & Parks public pool. The attendees came from all over Hollywood, including HUNC area. It was a fun night of pool, food, and music!

It was a perfect evening for such an event and perfectly coordinated by CD4’s recently promoted new District Director, J Anderson! Councilmember Nithya Raman and President of Friends of Griffith Park Gerry Hans spoke, there was watermelon and ice cream and City, State, County and HUNC NC members interacted with our stakeholders.

7/29 HUNC members attended Council District 13’s (CD13) Listening Session on a Special Vending Zone Pilot Program to occur on Hollywood Blvd. between Orange and McCadden. This program aims to create guidelines for vending on Hollywood Blvd. to create equitable vending while also taking into consideration stakeholder concerns. The pilot may ultimately be used for the whole boulevard.
