The Neighborhood Council Budget Advocates proudly invite youth ages 14 to 25 across Los Angeles to attend Budget Day 2026.

An exciting youth-focused program will give young people the opportunity to

  • Learn how the City Budget works
  • Learn how budget decisions affect youth and communities
  • Discuss issues important to Los Angeles youth
  • Explore ways youth can become involved in civic leadership
  • Make youth voices heard directly in the public process

Budget Update and Outreach

The City Council recently approved a $14.85 billion budget for 2026-2027. While it avoids layoffs due to increased property tax revenue, 88% of that increase is committed to personnel costs. This budget focuses on maintaining current levels rather than new initiatives, resulting in significant reductions in road paving and sidewalk repairs. Furthermore, a projected shortfall of nearly $300 million is expected for the 2027-28 fiscal year.

Your voice is essential in shaping these priorities. We ask all Neighborhood Councils to participate in the Budget Advocates Survey 2026 to help us identify the services that matter most to our communities.
