PUBLIC INPUT AT NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL MEETINGS Comments from the public on other matters not appearing on the agenda that are within the Board’s jurisdiction will be heard during the General Public Comment period. Please note that under the Brown Act, the Board is prevented from acting on a matter that you bring to its attention during the General Public Comment period; however, the issue raised by a member of the public may become the subject of a future Board meeting. Public comment is limited to 2 minutes per speaker, unless adjusted by the presiding officer of the Board.

The Neighborhood Council system enables meaningful civic participation for all Angelenos and serves as a voice for improving government responsiveness to local communities and their needs. We are an advisory body to the City of Los Angeles, comprised of stakeholder volunteers who are devoted to the mission of improving our communities.

    1. Consideration of specific outreach strategies for increasing Neighborhood Council engagement, including but not limited to:
      1. Hosting tabling events at local gatherings and public spaces.
      2. Forming community partnerships to enhance outreach reach and visibility.
      3. Implementing a social media campaign to encourage neighborhood involvement.

  8. Neighborhood Purposes Grant (NPG) Requests

    1. Bicycle Kitchen

      1. Presentation on a proposed Neighborhood Purposes Grant (NPG) of up to $5,000 for essential tools, education, and outreach materials aimed at community involvement and bike repair workshops.
      2. Discussion and possible motion to approve NPG to present at a General Board meeting. Document Link
    2. A Million Drops

      1. Presentation by Sheila Irani on a proposed Neighborhood Purposes Grant (NPG) for shower supplies, utilities, underwear, and sweatshirts for the Refresh Center at Hollywood Adventist, which supports unhoused individuals.

        1. Itemized funding discussion: Allocation toward shower supplies, utilities, and essential clothing items.
        2. Duration of funding: Discussion on the intended number of months this funding will cover to support program longevity.
      2. Discussion and possible motion to approve NPG to present at a General Board meeting.
    3. World Harvest Food Bank

      1. Presentation on a proposed Neighborhood Purposes Grant (NPG) of up to $4,999 for a Sprinter Van with a high top to support community food distribution efforts.

        1. Discussion on funding allocation for the van and its intended uses.

    4. D) LAFD Fire Station 76

      1. Presentation on a proposed Neighborhood Purposes Grant (NPG) of up to $2,000 for the irrigation system of a newly implemented Community Garden.
